Description This study quantified the natural history and dynamics of wood over six decades in the Queets River, Washington; a near-pristine floodplain system in a temperate rainforest. Wood abundance, characteristics, and origins were quantified for mainstem and tributary channels. A process-based budgeting approach evaluated the relative importance of lateral and longitudinal fluxes of key pieces (jam-initiating logs) in the mainstem.
