Title Government Camp at Coulee Dam

Description This is the government camp at Coulee Dam as it appeared during the early stages of construction in 1934. Upon completion of the MWAK contract the contractor turned his town of Mason City over to the government for the sum of $25, 000. For the duration of the CBI contract it was turned over to the contractor, along with the construction facilities, for operation and maintenance as necessary to carry out his contract. Upon completion of the contract it again reverted to the government.
The Government Camp at Grand Coulee was made of both permanent and temporary buildings to provide housing and social infrastructure for the people laboring for Bureau of Reclamation on the Columbia Basin Project.
