Description In the distance is the beginning of the west side excavation for the dam. It was the area directly behind this cut that subsequently became involved in the extensive west-side slides. In the foreground is the Seaton Ferry and the Seaton homestead, with evidences of the east side excavation just starting. The state of Washington, thru the Columbia Basin Commission, did much exploration work at the dam site, having let contracts totaling $95,746.38 for test pits, abutment trenches and core...
This is an early view of Westside excavation activities where landslides would cause tremendous grief and delays later in the project.

Format Original photographic prints were scanned at 24 bit 3000 pixels by the long side for master TIFF files on an Plustek OpticBook 3600 Plus. Also, 24 bit 150 PPI JPEGs were created with the OpticBook 3600 Plus and added to the CONTENTdm database at the WSU Libraries
