| Description |
This is a view of the sheet steel cofferdam sunk around pier #2 after the east bank of the river had slipped. The pressure from the material on the bank has been removed, and the additional ballast and footing of concrete poured. The total cost of the bridge exclusive of certain material furnished by the government amounted to $752,685.92, with the Pomeroy Co. receiving $594,220.54 for superstructure and pier work.
This shows the beginnings of construction on the highway bridge across the Columbia River. |
