| Description |
Workmen fitting the lower skin plates in position with pins, previous to bolting and finally riveting. In all the thousands of holes in the various parts of all these gates, less than a dozen holes required reaming in the field or on the job in order to secure a fit. The whole Drumgate structure was then flame cleaned and painted with aluminum paint. The first of the completed drum gates was lowered into its recess on may 01, 1941.
