The joy of horse riding is immense and the client wanted to be able to do this whatever the weather conditions were, be it rain, hail or the harsh summer sun. Wheatbelt Steel were engaged to design, produce and install an all-weather equestrian arena complete with provisional area for stables, tack room and kitchen/office facilities to be incorporated.
WHEATBELT STEEL’S ANSWER
A (67m x 42m x 5m) open front structural steel building with Universal Beam RSJ columns and parallel cord web trusses. The building design included (34m x 67m) arena with a (8m x 67m) lean-to for the inbuilt stables and facilities. Roller doors were installed to allow easy access for loading/unloading horses and feed supplies. The lean-to area was insulated on the roof and walls and rotating roof mounted ventilators installed. The tapered gutters allow water catchment to be directed to one end of building to large rainwater tanks.
“Horses are a big part of our life, so we went looking for a solution that allowed us to facilitate the hobby together as a family whenever we wanted. Wheatbelt Steel has delivered a great result, we can now go riding regardless of the weather, the kids have somewhere safe to play and the horses all have first class stables. Overall, we are very happy with the building and have had lots of people asking about it.” – Sharron
